Trains at Almería Airport

Almería Airport (LEI) does not have a train station, but there is one located in the city of Almería. It is possible to transfer to the train station from the airport using either taxi or the local bus, line 30, that frequents the airport every day of the year. The approximate travel time from the airport to the train station is 20 minutes by taxi and 40 minutes by bus.

Both the taxi rank and the bus stop are located outside the Arrivals hall, on the right hand side.

Buses depart approximately every 35 minutes throughout the day all days of the week, with the first departure in the morning and the last late in the evening. There are fewer departures during the weekends and bank holidays than during the weeks. Bus tickets are purchased from the bus driver and cost 1.05€ for a single journey including hand luggage.

It may not be possible to travel with larger luggage on the bus.

Estación Intermodal de Almeria/Almeria Train Station

Almería Train Station, known as Estación Intermodal de Almería in Spanish, is located on Plaza Estación Ferrocarril, approximately 15 minutes by foot from the main shopping street, Avenida Frederico Garcia Lorca, in Almería city center. It is open from 5.15 (am) until 01.00 (am) all days of the week.

It functions not only as a train station, but also as a bus station for long-distance coaches and city buses can also be found in the proximity.

The train station has a Information/Customer Service desk (Información/Atención al cliente) that is open from 6.30 (am) until 22.30 (10.30 pm).

There is a Lost and Found (Recogida y Entrega) that is open Monday-Friday (except for bank holidays from 9.00 (am) until 14.00 (2.00 pm), and from 16.30 (4.30 pm) until 18.00 (6.00 pm).

The train station also has PMR services, services for people with mobility impairment, (Servicio gratuito de Atención y Asistencia).

Parking spaces (aparcamiento) for regular as well as PMR vehicles, and for bicycles, are available, as are toilets (aseos).

There is also a bus waiting area (Sala de espera de autobuses).

It is possible to buy gifts in the gift shop or lottery tickets at the Once vendor, and there is also a car hire desk available, as well as one-armed bandit machines.

Trains from Almería Train Station

It is possible to get to a wide variety of locations by trains departing from Almería Train Station. Some are direct trains and some require transfers along the way. All the trains are medium or long distance trains.

Some of the trains are speed trains and other trains are regular trains.

Some of the direct trains that depart from Almería include destinations such as Madrid, Granada, and Malaga.

Other possible destinations to get to by train from Almería, direct or via transfer, include Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, Murcia, Cordoba, Lisbon (Portugal), Alicante, Paris (France), Cartagena, Alacant, Ronda, Guadix, and London (UK).

Of course, from the major hub cities, such as Madrid and Barcelona, it is possible to find train connections to most cities in Spain with an operating train station, and also to many cities around Europe, although, as mentioned, it might require several transfers along the way.

The train provider is Renfe. The trains are comfortable and clean, and they are usually punctual. There are even luxury trains on some routes within Spain.
